Hopi Ear Candles

HISTORY

The name Hopi is derived from the name of a Native American Indian Tribe. The Hopi Tribe are renowned for their extensive healing ability and their spiritual knowledge. The literal meaning of Hopi is “peaceful ones”. Martin Gashweseoma is a traditional Hopi Elder and the Guardian of the sacred stone tablets of the Fire Clan; he is attributed to be responsible for bringing this tradition to the west.

Ear candles have been extensively used for centuries by North and South American Indians and have also been traced to China, The Siberian Prairies and Asia.

In the last few years ear candling has became very popular in America. Britain and the rest of Europe have also experienced a sharp increase in demand.

WHAT IS A HOPI EAR CANDLE?

Ear candles are hollow tubes; different manufacturers have different ingredients however all are natural products including Beeswax, Honey extract, Sage, Camomile, St John’s Wort as well as pure essential oils.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT CONSIST OF?

You are asked to lie on your side on a therapy couch, background music will play and you will be encouraged to be calm.

A hopi candle is inserted in your ear and lit, this may sound alarming but it could not be further from reality. As the candle burns, a localised heat may be experienced the warm air that is produced combined with the oil and herbs soften ear wax, this and any other impurities are drawn from the ear into the base of the candle. The candle is only allowed to burn to within a few inches of the ear, it is then removed and extinguished the process is then repeated with the remaining ear.

WHAT CONDITIONS ARE HELPED BY HOPI EAR CANDLES?

Though results may vary from patient to patient, Hopi Ear Candles can be helpful with: earache, earwax, irritation of the ears, rhinitis, sinusitis and tinnitus. They can also help in the treatment of headaches and migraines and are a safe and gentle treatment for children.

ARE THERE ANY CONDITIONS WHICH SHOULD NOT BE TREATED?

People with perforated eardrums or individuals with grommets in place or those predisposed to allergic reaction to any of the ingredients should not consider Ear Candling.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY EARS CANDLED?

You need to use your own judgment as to what feels normal in your ear once it is cleared out, and how often your ears will benefit from being candled.

IS THE PROCESS PAINFUL?

No, not for most people, some people find the process to be so relaxing that they fall asleep during the candling.
